Learn more about Enract and how to use it properly.

Introduction

First of all, we need to introduce you to Enract and its purpose.
Enract is a free software available on Windows, MacOS and Linux. It is used to encrypt and decrypt Latin text messages.

Installation

Visit the downloads page and select the latest version or any version you wish to use. If you're not sure, the latest is in most cases the best to install.
You can then unzip the downloaded compressed folder, and launch the executable installer.
Then simply follow the instructions.
To uninstall the software, simply search for the name "Enract" in your Settings/Applications tab, and click "Uninstall".

Usage

Enract can be used to encrypt and decrypt Latin text data. You can also generate your own alphabets.
The application already has a default alphabet which everyone can access. You can use it to try the software, but it is highly recommended to then generate your own with a passcode.
You can then encrypt a non-encrypted text (such as "Hello") and select if needed the alphabet you wish to use. The same applies for decryption. You can work with Latin text only, such as these characters : [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, a, b, c, d, e, f, g, h, i, j, k, l, m, n, o, p, q, r, s, t, u, v, w, x, y, z, A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O, P, Q, R, S, T, U, V, W, X, Y, Z, ,, ., !, ?, -, ', `, (, ), [, ], {, }, <, >, /, :, ;, @, #, $, %, ^, &, *, _, +, =, |, [SPACE], ', ~]
Alphabets are stored in the application folder "alphabets" and with unique IDs. The ID 1 is for the default alphabet. It can not be removed from the application. Any other alphabets will have the IDs 2,3,4,... They can be removed at any time.
Alphabets can also be protected with a passcode generated by the application. When generating a new alphabet, you will be prompted with the alphabet's passcode, which would be needed to use it to encrypt or decrypt data. Make sure to remember it, as there is no way to modify it.
Once your alphabet file is created, you can copy the alphabet file ("x.enract" in "alphabets") and send it to the person you wish to communicate with. They will then be able to download the file, add it in their app and use it to decrypt your messages, and encrypt their owns.
The list of commands can vary from one version to another, please use "help" directly in the application to show the list of available commands.

Enract does not currently support direct support by email. You can however join the Community server and create a new ticket for help. You can also create a new post in its forum.
